All WhatsApp accounts are tied to mobile phone numbers. Since mobile operators can reuse phone numbers, it's possible that the previous owner of your number used WhatsApp.
About reused phone numbers
If the previous owner of your phone number hasn't deleted their WhatsApp account:
You and all your contacts can see your phone number on WhatsApp until you activate your new account.
You can also view someone's profile photo and the News section associated with your phone number.
Don't worry. This just means that the previous account hasn't been WhatsApp Number List deleted, so the old information is still in the system. This doesn't mean that the previous owner of the phone number has access to your WhatsApp account. Your WhatsApp conversations and other data will remain secure.
Once the verification process is complete, you can change all of your profile information. We recommend that you leave any groups that your current account number is associated with and block any unknown contacts.
Note: If the previous owner of your phone number set up two-step verification, you may need to reset your PIN.
To help eliminate confusion with reused phone numbers, we monitor account inactivity. We consider this a sign that a number has been reused if:
The account has not been used for 45 days.
After that, the account is reactivated on another mobile device.
We will then delete the old account data (profile photo and News section ) associated with that number.
